Davos experience

Ski & Snowboard

Winter

Davos Klosters is considered one of the most snow-sure ski regions in Switzerland. With around 300 km of slopes and 57 transport facilities, the ski areas of Parsenn, Gotschna, Jakobshorn, Pischa, as well as the two family-friendly mountains Madrisa and Rinerhorn, and the Schatzalp, offer enjoyable skiing for all ages.

Parsenn is known as the cradle of skiing in Switzerland. In 1895, four English tourists got lost on the Weissfluhjoch and eventually ended up in Küblis, thus discovering the Parsenn descent and creating an Alpine legend. Since the opening of the funicular about 90 years ago, Parsenn has been the classic ski mountain with long runs on wide slopes and mountain huts that exude style and tradition. The ski area, with approximately 97 km of slopes, is accessible from Davos via the Parsennbahn and from Klosters via the Gotschnabahn.

Jakobshorn, the home of the freestyle scene, remains a hotspot for snowboarding and freeskiing. At 2500 meters above sea level, beginners to professionals show their skills in the JatzPark, which has 20 features like kickers and rails. In the valley, the freestyle heart beats louder with the superpipe at Bolgen and the 15 x 15-meter Air Bag for beginners to make their first jump attempts.

Davos Pischa is one of the largest and sunniest freeride areas in Switzerland. The funicular takes you up to the mountain station, where you can surf down the mountain on secured freeride descent routes. Tourers use the mountain station as the starting point for the popular ski tour up Pischahorn. Freeriders can go full speed through the powder, not just on skis or a snowboard, but also on fatbikes or airboards. More information about the mountain can be found here.

Few ski areas are as dedicated to families with young children as Madrisa. In the children’s snow parks of Madrisa-Land and the Madrisa-Park Klosters, a special practice area is available. Four magic carpets take the little skiers to the top. And with a snowbike (available at Intersport at the mountain station), they can sit down with skis strapped on and ride down the slope – ideal for ski beginners. While children practice their first turns on four practice lifts, parents can explore the 31 km of slopes. If there’s enough snow, the 8.5 km sledging track to Saas and the winter hiking trails to Mässplatte and Zügenhüttli are highlights.

Rinerhorn offers a sledging track with 33 turns and steep curves, night-time winter sports, and a family-friendly ski area with ski lifts and cozy mountain huts. It’s no wonder that Rinerhorn is considered a hidden gem in Davos Klosters, especially among locals.
